KTH Materials Laboratory is coordinated by the Materials Research Platform at KTH.

The Materials Platform is one of five research platforms at KTH with the purpose to create and enhance multidisciplinary collaboration between different materials research groups at KTH.

Materials Research at KTH

Materials science has traditionally been an important research area at KTH with strong ties to the Swedish industry. In addition to the internationally highly competitive research in traditional materials, KTH has strong research in nanoscience and nanotechnology, which are used to study and tailor material structures. KTH also has a number of centers of excellence that focus on nanostructured materials and biomaterials. In general, materials research at KTH may be divided into five different groups, namely Metallic Materials, Fibre and Polymer Materials (soft materials), Materials for Photonic and Electronic Applications, Advanced Material Characterisation, and Materials for Energy Applications.
